JoAnn Kerr, the first principal of F.C.S. posted a helpful article on her Facebook page about the importance of obedience. This touched on what I believe is one of the greatest issues facing the Christian family today. I encourage you to read it for yourself at: www.desiringgod.org “Parents, Require Obedience of Your Children”. The author John Piper talks about the importance of teaching children obedience and that it can be a matter of life and death.

Different times I will share with parents about the kind of obedience God wants and how their parenting can direct their children in the right direction. King David speaks of delighting in the Law of the LORD. Psalm 1:1-2; your children ought to delight in obedience. They should have joy in obeying house and school rules. Grudging compliance or disobedience is a strong indicator of a hard heart toward God and should be their first clue that they may not love Jesus. John 14:15-26 “If ye love me, keep my commandments…” If you want your children to grow in obedience there are many great resources available to help your family.

There may not be a more relevant area than training in obedience in which to bless your family and prepare your children to understand and receive the gospel. Never grow tired of training and modeling obedience! While you’re reading the first article go on and read, Why Require Unregenerate Children to Act Like They’re Good? Remember, obedience is the very best way…
