At Verideia Classical Christian Academy all our students learn the Four Promises of Forgiveness as our teachers teach through The Young Peacemaker curriculum. The four promises are remembered in short form as…Good Thought, Hurt You Not, Gossip Never, Friends Forever. The first promise is…I promise I will think good thoughts about you and do good for you. I believe one of Satans most destructive weapons used to weaken the Church is when we think evil thoughts against each other. This device of Satan can be seen at every level of human interaction. Students can ostracize one another when they think evil of another. Teachers can have biases towards students because they don’t think good thoughts about a child. Adults can harbour resentment, bearing the fruit of gossip about another adult because they have not committed to think well of them.
Thinking Gods thoughts after Him is a high goal of being nurtured in the classical Christian tradition and is a work of the Holy Spirit in the sanctification of an adopted child of God. As we each confess our sins may we look to our thought life as it relates to the first promise to think good thoughts in keeping with… Philippians 4:8 Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of a good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any
praise, think on these things. God is concerned with our thought life and so should we. Model with your children the importance of a godly
thought life as it impacts everything else.
