Yesterday morning Alethea recited to the school body the poem, The Thousandth Man by Rudyard Kipling, based on Ecclesiastes 7:28. This poem speaks of the great value and rarity of finding a loyal friend. It contrasts the “999” with that of the “1” who is truly loyal. The “999” were more concerned about outward appearances, popularity and power. The “1” would be there for you no matter what.
It is hard to find a truly loyal friend and some never do, but what is far more amazing is that a truly loyal friend has found us. If you are born again you know that Jesus has found you. The “1” who has found you is the loyal man and just as He is loyal to His Father and the Holy Spirit He will be loyal to us who believe on His name. Remember as it says in the poem “you can show your feelings” your “wrong in season and out of season” Jesus “will stand by your side.” Now go and be that loyal friend of Jesus and your fellow man!
