On Sunday my mother-in-law gave me a little book called ‘Before Christmas’ by Bill Crowder which talks about Jesus before His incarnation. The same Sunday our church’s guest speaker preached from I Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” In explaining the word ‘came’ our speaker also alluded to Christ’s pre-existence. Coincidence? Is the eternal pre-existence of Jesus more than interesting Bible trivia? How should this truth impact our everyday lives? Well one way it helps me, is through the connection with the eternal relational God, Father, Son and Spirit. Imagine that in eternity past, the triune God planned and purposed to save me a chief of sinners. In another way it is a comforting truth because as this work of Christ was planned in advance and perfectly executed in time and space so I can know all of History is working out according to God’s plan in time and space. So, when as a school we point students to the pre-existent Jesus we are bringing glory to the all glorious one, trusting they along with us and Paul will say of the Lord Jesus Christ…

“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
