Most people have heard of John Dewey the brilliant philosopher who is sometimes called the Father of American Progressive Education. Dewey’s ideas were greatly influenced by the works of William James who held to Darwinian psychology and who rejected absolute truth. Dewey sought to forge the philosophy of social pragmatism as the backbone of education. Dewey’s book, A Common Faith, along with his presidency of The American Humanist Association, are pieces to the religious foundation of modern education. This foundation is in essence a rehashing of the ancient Greek religion of “man as the measure of all things”. Today’s modern Public Schools are simply pagan indoctrination institutions to foster Dewey’s My Pedagogic Creed. As the West has embraced the paganism of the ancient Greeks we should not be surprised if we start noticing similar cultural declines experienced by the Roman Empire, in fact we have already surpassed them in different ways.

Christians need to wake up and realize there is no such thing as non-religious child formation. The Bible is crystal clear. You are either for me or against me. You are either a child of the light or of darkness. One is either a sheep of the Shepherd’s or a goat. I appreciate that John Dewey saw the powerful religious nature of the New (Old) religion he sought to advance through education, but sadly few Christians do.
