Getting out of the Crazy Cycle in the Home is important for glorifying God and enjoying the familial relationships He has established. Many times a day parents diffuse ticking time bombs, averting catastrophe in the home. If you want to get better at diffusing potentially explosive interactions there is a 5 step pattern to follow:

  1. Call a time-out
  2. Do not automatically assume disrespect
  3. Teach family crazy cycle
  4. Reassure your child of your love
  5. Allow for imperfection

“The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.”

Proverbs 19:11 above speaks to the benefit of a time out in order for all parties to approach the situation with self-control and respect. As Ron Morrish says, “Always try to keep your composure when your children lose theirs.” Christ gives us Biblical principles and the Holy Spirit to get out of the crazy cycle in order for us to better grow in virtue and wisdom.
