“Men pass. Nations rise and fall. Customs change. Accepted philosophies are discarded like last year’s garments. But it is ever true that God is looking for a man He can use. Will you be that man?”
WILL H. HOUGHTON

Born to poor parents in a humble farmhouse in Northfield, Massachusetts in 1837, a little baby would become one of the greatest men of his century – Dwight L. Moody. Psalm 62:11 says “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.” The secret to why D.L. Moody was so mightily used is that the power belongs to God.

R. A. Torrey lists seven aspects of D.L. Moody’s life that accounted him for God to use him as He did. First, that though not perfect, he was a fully surrendered man. In a discussion Moody had with Torrey he said, “Torrey, if I believed that God wanted me to jump out of that window, I would jump.” And Torrey believed he would.

It makes sense that God would choose to use someone who is fully surrendered to Him. So why are so few known for this posture before their Lord? In a small way others can see surrendered lives to Jesus in us. Instead of ‘my way’ choices we can make ‘God’s way’ choices. Instead of being selfish we can be selfless. Fully surrendered is a disposition of life we can grow in each day. May God be pleased to show His power in and through us, as we surrender fully to His Law / Word more and more each day, a people God uses to display His power.
