The second secret for why God used D.L. Moody in such a significant way is that he was in the deepest and meaningful sense a man of prayer.

For people who heard D.L. Moody preach many would testify that he was a far greater pray-er. He had a resolute faith that “nothing was too hard for the Lord” and that prayer could do anything that God could do.

When I think back about my own estimation of a person’s spiritual maturity, I equated someone’s prayer
life as being the most essential. I have appreciated listening to the prayers of godly people through the years. My own father’s prayers, certain pastors I’ve had, different saints through the years in prayer groups, have powerfully encouraged my own heart.

Just as God answered so many of D.L. Moody’s prayers for the flourishing of his ministries I am thankful for the parents and staff who weekly come together to pray for VCCA. Any benefit to students and their
families stems from the prayers for God’s blessing in their lives.

“All the duties of religion are eminently solemn and venerable in the eyes of children. But none so strongly prove the sincerity of the parent; none so powerfully awaken the reverence of the child; none so happily recommend the instruction he receives, as family devotions, particularly those in which petitions for the children occupy a distinguished place.”
