On March 6th and 7th FCS teachers visited a 25 year old Christian classical school in Orlando, Florida. In God’s providence, we were privileged to hear Joni Eareckson Tada in person during their chapel. Joni’s testimony puts our own personal trials in perspective. Her statement, “God permits what He hates to accomplish what He loves” will stick with me for years to come. If you don’t know Joni’s story I encourage you to read her biography or watch the film which tells her story or even read one of the many excellent books she has written over the years. God’s strength in Joni’s weakness powerfully shines through and helps others see the glimpses of glory which are only experienced in the valleys of life God brings us through.
One of Geneva’s pamphlets said that, “At ‘The Geneva School‘ we strive for far more than simply academic success. We desire our students to grow in wisdom and discernment, to develop godly dispositions of love, compassion, and humility, and to serve their fellow man through the use of their various gifts and callings. We seek by God’s grace, to educate the whole person.” From hearing Joni during chapel and seeing first-hand the students and staff at The Geneva School, I pray that the Lord gives them another blessed 25 years of educating the whole person, by God’s grace.
