But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matt. 6:33
Most Christians understand that this verse from Jesus Sermon on the Mount applies to them and their children; however, the rare response is appropriate application. For approximately six hours a day allocated for school, one needs to ask how that time is exemplified by seeking first the kingdom of God, for surely Jesus didnt insert in the fine print that what this verse teaches doesnt apply to teaching. In fact, Jesus described application or doing what He teaches with the Wise Man who builds his house on the rock. Does your childs 24/7 environment encourage and, better yet, exhibit seeking the Kingdom of God? Classical Christian education is being implemented properly when Gods righteousness and kingdom are being sought after. Shaping childrens affections for the Good, the True and the Beautiful is just such a focus which result in all these things.
