Ideas influence peoples thinking and as a result create culture. It is therefore important to read and evaluate the books which gave rise to these ideas. One of these culture changing ideas was made popular by Charles Darwin in his 1859 book On the Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of the Favoured Races in the Struggle of Life. (Fortunately they shortened this pithy title.)
The idea that Natural Selection explains the variety of life that has, does, and will exist in contradistinction to God creating set kinds of life from the beginning fostered a paradigm shift emboldening a God hating population. Ironically Charless idea required the necessary biblical worldview which alone provides the framework for logic, rationality, the uniformity of nature, and the reliability of our senses let alone real categories of truth, goodness and beauty. At the time, I imagine Charles Darwin didnt know he was standing on the authority of a biblical world view in order to argue against it. The natural results of the idea of natural selection has shaped further ideas and actions which I will, Lord willing, explore in in upcoming Principals Takes. What we will see is that rebellion of God and His Word consistently results in a culture of death and heart ache.
