What happened 40 days after the resurrection of Jesus?
And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

To instill in the students, the significance of Christ’s ascension and the concreteness of His post-resurrection ministry on earth and now in heaven, we will celebrate through food, song, scripture and prayer later this month. For 40 days Jesus was witnessed by many people. In His resurrected body Jesus instructed His followers of their authority and responsibility promising them He would be with them even unto the end of the world.
The incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of Christ are more than historical realities, they are rich in spiritual significance teaching us the heart the Father, Son and Holy Spirit’s redemption plan. Because of the awful and wonderful story of Jesus a new covenant with the Church was inaugurated 10 days later. This historical event of Pentecost sometimes referred to as the birth of the church has led to you and me in 2025 marveling at the love of God and His epic redemption plan that would include rebels like unto us. Talk with your children about the significance of the ascension of Christ and the sending of the Holy Spirit.
