A retired principal shared his school’s student calling which was…
“We study in order to understand God’s good creation and the ways sin has distorted it so that, in Christ’s power, we may bring healing to persons and the created order and, as God’s image-bearers, exercise responsible authority in our task of cultivating the creation to the end that all people and all things may joyfully acknowledge and serve their creator and true king.”
This concise calling aligns itself well with God’s Creation/Fall/Redemption/Consummation trajectory of History and our individual lives. Whether it’s students or people at other stages in life we all ought to live according to our calling. We ought to live intentionally according to our purpose springing forth from our identity in Christ. Without this our lives resemble dead fish floating down stream to an awful destination. Living according to our high calling makes God look big and makes big waves in this earth and the one to come.
