Have you heard of the statement ‘Start with the end in mind.’? This statement contains a powerful concept for planning any course of action, from baking a cake, or building a car to raising children; however, changing the end for the beginning in this statement may even be more powerful and important for the course of one’s life.
This week our students were reviewing catechism question #4 How and why did God create us? The answer is… God created us male and female in His own image to know Him, love Him, live with Him, and glorify Him. And it is right that we who were created by God should live to His glory.
A common concern families have with government schooling is in the area of gender ideology. This should have been anticipated considering the categorical rejection of the corresponding answer to question #4. When our society and current mainstream culture gets the foundational how and why questions wrong, we should expect a rebellious posture towards the divinely created order from which true human flourishing emanates, and its embrace of the destructive counterfeit gender identities we see.
When you don’t start with the true beginning in mind you can’t flourish as God ordained, but rather you receive His ordained judgment.
