Dr. Steve Scheibners second pillar of parenting for a proactive parent is to train children to make their God look great. Most children understand how a magnifying glass makes things look bigger. Our joy and duty as Christians is to make God look bigger, to magnify Him. We probably have sung praise songs which said ‘O Magnify the Lord’, but how are we practising making God look big, with kind words, responsible actions and respectful behaviour?
Help your children to make the connections between words and actions that cause others to feel big or small. Role play magnifying behaviour, the type of words and actions which build up others and magnify our Lord.
Parent centred parenting automatically positions the child to appreciate their God ordained place in the family and by rejoicing in that role to make their God look big.
