During this week’s morning exercises our prayer for Tuesday and Wednesday was…

“God of our Fathers and our God, give us the faith to believe in the ultimate triumph of righteousness no matter how dark and uncertain are the skies of today. We pray for the bifocals of Faith, that see the despair and need of the hour, but also see further on, the patience of our God working out His plan in the world He has made.

Make our faith honest by helping us this day to do one thing because thou hast said; ‘Do it’ or to abstain because thou hast said, ‘Thou shalt not’ May our faith be seen in our works.”
Amen

This prayer was proceeded by the hymn Joy to the World which reminds us that our reigning Saviour makes his blessings flow far as the curse is found and rules the world with truth and grace. Songs and prayers such as these give us the big picture of a sovereign God working out His perfect plan in the world which includes our individual responsibility to do or not do one thing each day because our Lord and King said. During your family devotional time with your children ask them what was one thing they did or the one thing they abstained from that day simply because God said; then share yours.

We do pray that each of you will have a safe and restful summer. Remember the three basic rules:

1st Do right,
2nd Be safe
and then 3rd HAVE FUN!

We’ll see many of you in September. To those who are not returning, you will be missed but we pray God’s best as your path moves you on from V.C.C.A.
