Earlier this year VCCA students were memorizing God’s commandments written on tablets of stone, the 8th being ‘Thou shalt not steal’. So, when we hear of our leader’s intention to steal 770 acres in Wilmont County just West of the school through potential expropriation, what should we say to our students regarding this sin, which is a clear violation of the 8th commandment and the Golden Rule?
Environmental groups have raised their concerns regarding the potential negative impacts on the
environment, but where is the moral outrage? On the Laurier campus there is a sign which reads:
YOU ARE HERE
ON THE TRADITIONAL
TERRITORY OF THE
HAUDENOSAUNEE,
ANISHNAABEG AND
NEUTRAL
PEOPLES.
Will our government simply display a sign recognizing the names of the farmers who’s land they took against their will because after all, might makes right? God tells us through the apostle Paul,
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority”
– 1 Timothy 2:1-2a
We must model praying for our leaders, praying that they would repent of their sins, bowing the knee to King Jesus then, to lead the peoples in righteousness. Until then if property ownership is not established by God, what’s yours is mine, will continue to be justified by the powerful and mighty.
