The ROM has an upcoming Auschwitz Exhibition which as they say will “Deepen student’s understanding of World War II, the Holocaust, and the dangers of prejudice, racism and discrimination.” I wonder why they don’t say to deepen student’s understanding of World War II and the dangers of secular humanism, social Darwinism and a satanic hatred for God and His covenant people.
When you reject the triune God of Scripture you have to invent new categories of wrongness. The strange thing is that the underlying justifications for WWII and all its subsequent atrocities are still alive and well. Darwinism still reigns in all the largest spheres of influence along with governments functioning as God’s replacement and we still have a satanic hatred for God and His chosen people which now includes the grafted in vine.
The message of the Auschwitz Exhibition ought to be that when people and nations depart from the Law/Word of God expect the worst of what man’s wicked heart can contrive. Because God has graciously communicated to us through his Word, we can expose the leaven of humanism while seeking to enlist students in the real battle as expressed by Isaac Watts.
Am I a soldier of the cross, a follower of the Lamb,
And shall I fear to own His cause, or blush to speak His name?
Must I be carried to the skies, on flowery beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize, and sailed thro’ bloody seas?
Are there no foes for me to face? Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend of grace, to help me on to God?
Sure, I must fight if I would reign; Increased my courage, Lord!
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain, Supported by Thy Word.
