We ended our school year with a Virtue/Character Awards Chapel. My heart overflows with gratitude to see students recognized for Christ-like character and who serve the LORD Jesus Christ. It is FCS’s desire to train up these young ones in the fear and admonition of the LORD. I am most thankful to our gracious heavenly Father for powerfully redeeming that which was lost.
I have a Varsity Jacket that has Prov. 9:10 embroidered on the back. This verse says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding”, a past school verse for the University of Western Ontario.
I explained in our chapel the importance of authentic virtue originating out of a love for God and others and as well a love for the virtue itself. Going back to my leather jacket I am reminded to start with the fear of the LORD.
Our relationship to God must start and be continually characterized by a proper fear of the LORD. If you experience waning virtues and their influence on others go back to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Begin with a humble heart directed by fear, because of God’s majesty, holiness, sovereignty, power, justice and mercy. May the saying, A God fearing people come back in vogue, starting with us.
