January is the month our students are focused on the virtue of WORK. The Kindergarten students are listening to poems such as Wynken, Blynken and Nod, The Little Red Hen, Five Little Chickens and Aesop’s Fable, The Ants and the Grasshopper. This literary heritage which is laid is putting WORK in its proper place. WORK is really what we do with living. We pray students will see the virtue of WORK and the vice of sloth and idleness. Part of enjoying life is enjoying the WORK of their lives.
Yesterday during our Education Committee meeting we were talking about the importance of modelling a love and respect for God’s Word with children. This same principle holds true to WORK. Are we modelling the proper attitudes towards work our children need?
From the Mc Guffey’s Primer
Work while you work
Play while you play;
One thing each time,
That is the way.
All that you do,
Do with your might;
Things done by halves
Are not done right.
