“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you,
that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing;
therefore choose life that thou and thy seed may live”
Deuteronomy 30:19

This verse came to my mind in thinking about the world that Jesus came into. He left heaven and became a flesh and blood man in entering this world. After the wise men had worshiped and gave gifts to young Jesus the King of Kings, King Herod made sure that all the boys 2 years old and younger in the region were slaughtered. Now in our day millions of babies in the womb are slaughtered and for those who are born, the second leading cause of death is suicide. So whether it was 2,000 years ago or today, the world in which Jesus left heaven to come to, is a world of death.

During this Christmas season, reflect on the reason Jesus would come and enter a culture of death. He did it to bring life and light, to redeem a people upon whom his favour rests. When our hearts are changed by the new birth we will choose life rather than death and blessing rather than cursing. Have you chosen life? Are you being a blessing to others because you are blessed by God? Jesus came into a wicked and rebellious world to show us the Father and redeem a people. Let us be about showing the love of the Father and sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to this world afflicted with death and cursing so that a seed might live!

Have a joyous Christmas break!

May King Jesus be the reason for your great joy!
