This week a Canadian Federal Court ruled that the Federal Liberal Government’s use of the Emergencies Act was unconstitutional not bearing,
“the hallmarks of reasonableness, justification, transparency and intelligibility – and was not justified in relation to the relevant factual and legal constraints that were required to be taken into consideration.”
– Justice Richard Mosley
Martin Luther once said, “Love God and do as you please.” Can we all agree that our bureaucratic elites in Ottawa applied the second half of Luther’s saying without being governed by the first?
Deputy Prime Minister Freeland has stated that they will appeal this decision by the Federal Court. Probably because they know they acted in full accord with the constitution in a reasonable, justified, transparent and intelligible manner, knowing it met all the legal requirements or maybe because just doing as they please should be good enough for Canadians.
The saying, ‘Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely’, could apply in this case especially when it appears that little can be done today in the way of checks and balances. Our own checks and balances better be as Luther said, “Love God…” Our love of God should govern all that we do and when it does, doing as we please will please the Lord. How often do I do as I please without it stemming from my love of God! We don’t need an earthly Federal Court Justice to weigh in on the righteousness of our choices, what we need is the Holy Ghost applying God’s Law-Word to our hearts today!
